The Giza Star Clock and the Transition of the Ages

The husband, who has been ready for a while to go to dinner with friends, asks his wife: “Honey, are you almost ready?”, to which she answers: “5 more minutes!”.

5 more minutes!

The wife, who has been waiting for him at home for a while, calls her husband and asks: “Honey, when are you coming?”, to which he answers: “5 more minutes!”.

For the partner who is waiting, the time takes much longer than for the other who is busy (in his or her own way). This is the difference between the objective time as displayed by the external clock and the subjective time of our internal clock. Our experience of time is inherently subjective unless we have tuned into the time as displayed by our watches or phones. When we really understand the difference between internal and external time, the phenomenon of jet lag is easy to explain, as it is simply due to too much deviation between the two.

By the way, if the above stereotypical examples bother you, you may think you are “woke”, but you are probably far from (socially) awake.

Awakened readers of this newsletter might be interested in my presentation on Sunday 26th May 2024 at the Alternative View Conference (No. 14) on Riding the Wave, held in a city exactly between the two most famous classical university cities of Great Britain, namely Cambridge and Oxford. The title of my presentation is ‘The Giza Star Clock and the Transition of the Ages’. In it, I will talk about the dynamics of time in general, and our Sirius connection in particular. If traveling to Milton Keynes in England is not an option for you, you could instead join the live stream or watch its recording afterwards.

Have you watched the Wholly Science instructional video yet?

In October 2023, I started experimenting with having my texts read aloud by a computer voice. I did this because I not so much like seeing or hearing myself in a video or sound recording, because then I am more concerned with how I say it, than with what I say. Watching my own videos is therefore certainly not always fun for me. However, when I discovered that I could have the computer read out what I wanted to say, this immediately made me happy (although I soon became annoyed by the sometimes wrong intonations). Anyway, at the end of last year’s October, Wholly Science : The Movie was released as a slide show with a computer voice. Although I was quite satisfied with it myself, others were clearly less enthusiastic. I even received an email from a newsletter reader who thought someone else had hijacked Wholly Science. She clearly had not watched this video to the end.

Anyway, in the first week of this month, I suddenly received inspiration for making the Wholly Science instructional video. You can rest assured, because in this video you will hear my own voice again.

This Wholly Science instructional video is primarily intended to interest as many people as possible in Wholly Science, and in particular in following and completing the Wholly Science Education Program. In addition, I had to tighten the conditions for going from Level 5 to Level 6. This, as well as some other changes, are explained in this important video.
